National Instruments GPIB, also called IEEE488 standard bai, is an international general du bus standard (like a USB bus) with standard electrical requirements and finger zhi order set requirements. From this point of view to teach dao, your connection program is feasible to complete the basic management requirements

What is a GPIB cable?

A GPIB cable consists of 12 pairs of copper twisted pairs with 24-pin parallel male/female connectors.

How do I use a GPIB cable?

GPIB cables are used in a bus or star configuration where the connectors are "backpacked" with each other to connect test and measurement equipment to a PC or other device.

Where are GPIB cables used?

GPIB cables are typically used in test and measurement applications, as well as in data acquisition (DAQ).

IEEE-488 bus related terminology

Adapter: A device used to connect two different types of connectors.

American Wire Gauge (AWG): A group of standards that began in the United States to distinguish the diameters of nonferrous metal wires. Typical data cables are 24 AWG, 26 AWG, and 28 AWG; the larger the number before the AWG, the smaller the diameter and the thinner the wire.

Backshell (Shell): A mechanical support typically used to enclose a connector to protect the conductor. It may be assembled or injection molded.

Bus: Also known as the "daisy-chain pattern," this is a network topology in which each node is connected to the other in a linear fashion, which has the obvious disadvantage that a break in the bus can paralyze the entire network.

Cable: A set of insulated wires or conductors with an extruded jacket. Many types of cables are equipped with a shield between the wires and the jacket.

Cable Assembly: A cable terminated with one or more connectors.

Conductor: A metallic (mostly copper) pathway that conducts electricity. When used to describe data lines, "wire" (wi r e ) and "conductor" (conductor) are synonymous.

Connector: An electromechanical connection device with a pluggable electrical interface.

Contact: The specific point of contact in a connector. Contacts can be male (pins) or female (sockets).

Coupler: A device used to connect two connectors of the same type.

Crosstalk: The coupling effect caused by electromagnetic fields between neighboring conductors. Crosstalk can be controlled by simply twisting the wires or separating (shielding) the wires.

Electromagnetic Interference (EMI): Unwanted electromagnetic or electrical energy generated in an electronic device that is harmful to the device.

GPIB: General Purpose Interface Bus, commonly known as IEEE-488.

HPIB: Hewlett Packard Interface Bus, a common name for IEEE-488.

IEEE-488: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Interface Standard No. 488.

Injection Molding: The process of injecting molten polymer into a mold. Connector backshells are typically injection molded.

Insulator: A material of very high electrical resistance used to protect a conductor, usually by extruding a uniform layer of insulation over the outer layer of the conductor after the wire has been drawn.

Insulation Displacement Contact (IDC): A method of terminating a wire without splitting the cable into bare wire form.

Receptacle: A female connector - usually a port configured on a device.

Plug: Various types of male connectors.

Shield: A layer of conductive foil or braid used to cover insulated wires in a cable. The shielding acts as a grounding device to protect against external electromagnetic interference (EMI) while controlling internal electromagnetic radiation.

Web Tail: Used to protect wires and connections from bending and dragging stresses.

Twisted Pair: Two insulated wires twisted a certain number of times per unit length. Typically used in balanced circuits where tight control of impedance ratings and crosstalk is required.

Conductor: A conductive material (mostly copper) that is drawn to a standard diameter and uniformly covered with insulation. The term "bare wire" refers to wire without insulation.
